Land was conveyed by deed of E. D. and Mary M. Ricker to S. W. Corse, Trustee of Point of Pine Club, February 1905. Eight other names are listed, some unable to be read; some conveyed their one ninth interest to Frank R. Dawly; in late 1937 the Dawly Estate Decree was issued to Eva Dawly LeBell and Edith D. Wheelock; Jessie Blake of Stratford, Connecticut, purchased the camp in July 1942. The Blakes built a new boat house (the old one was falling down) and almost rebuilt the whole camp including adding a cellar under the camp. The camp was originally on Berlin Pond. It was taken apart, skidded across the ice on Groton Pond and reassembled in its present location in Reginald (Tex) and Elaine LaRosa purchased camp from Jessie Blake in July 1971. There was no road beyond John Desilets’ camp. Access was by boat or walking through the woods. There was no telephone service until June of ‘1973.
ln August of 1988, thanks to Pliney and Barbara Gale, a road was constructed from Nellie White’s to our area. Ralph Hatch trucked in 33 loads of gravel to make our driveway in five and a half hours. A celebration occurred at our camp with the Gales, Art and Peg Bloom, Dean and Barbara Edson and we LaRosas. In 1989 we purchased half the Right of Way from Gales; in 1993 we purchased Right of Way from the state for the upper beach road; in 1994 we purchased from Gales the other half of Right of Way.
ln 1990 a room was added on the first floor on the south side of camp.
The three LaRosa children, Elizabeth and husband, Peter Nicholson, John and wife, Joyce (Bloom, next door neighbors at the Pond who married and purchased Al and Margaret Coons’ camp, Wingwood), and Steven and wife, Barbara (Tuller) whose wedding ceremony and reception were at the Pond, and all their children have been fortunate enough to grow up at the Pond. Ownership of the camp has now been transferred to our children.
